the Over-Caffeinated Entrepreneur

Sleep is Over-Rated…. I’ll Get Plenty When I’m Dead.

Having begun a career in sales and marketing at the age of 9, David sold Christmas cards and magazine subscriptions door-to-door.  Additionally, at the age of 14, he held his first position in the hospitality field. Washing dishes in a dinner theater seating 300, with two shows a night cemented his love for the food and beverage industry AND a winner’s mentality.  Hard work came naturally.

David credits his grandparents of instilling in him his bulldog tenacity, love of people and attention to detail.  The oldest of 5 boys in a family of 8 children, his opportunities to spend weekends and summers with them molded his perspective. He learned more than anything, that all things can be beautiful if handled with care and respect.

His formal career in the private club industry lasted for more than 26 years, beginning in the Air Force. Early duties included courier work in Grosvenor Square; the US Embassy in London. Transporting Eyes-Only documents across the country and often included General Officers, USO celebrities and foreign dignitaries from a variety of countries.

This gave way to more localized responsibilities. An enlisted man managing Officer’s Clubs was highly unusual, and he excelled. He served his country in the UK while war raged in Vietnam. A blessing he treasures to this day.  He also served in Italy, Germany, Greenland, S. Korea and Japan.

After nearly eight years, it led to the public sector, managing mega-clubs across the nation. Social-Athletic clubs that offer their members fine dining and sports and fitness were his specialty.  The largest club was in Michigan, owned by Ford Motor Company.  David remained in the private club sector until 1995.  Thus, began a second career in consulting with small and medium sized businesses, with project stints with United Airlines and the Home Depot. With a focus on generating growth via marketing, clients thrive to this day.

As Chief Experiences Officer of Marketing Partners LLC, David keeps his plate full.  In addition to authorship and speaking engagements, David owns a marketing agency focused on small and medium-sized businesses. Marketing Partners helps small business Get Found and Get Growing.
